Thanks for keeping up with us Phil. I have not used Linux in ages! I'm sure the whole standardization thing goes well beyond hotkeys on a lot of platforms. It's something we'll always fight with. I'm a huge fan of how easy it is to customize things like hotkeys in OS X and will always be a proponent of allowing the user to have control. After all, they know best! If you're ever lured back to the dark side of OS X, check out my most recent article on how to change hotkeys.

Ahh... Standardization... Excellent article! You have touched upon something that has been long since lacking in the development community and UNIX based x-windows systems for some time now. Everyone does things a different way which is part of the reason why Linux based x-windows systems has not been fully embraced by Windows users. Of course, there are many other reasons but I believe if projects like Gnome and KDE would simply start standardizing on things such as short cuts x-windows will progress quicker in the right direction and stand to steal more market share from Microsoft.

Just my $0.02 cents.

Thanks
